Nebraska Teaching Certificate – Testing
To get a Nebraska teaching certificate, you will have to take the Praxis Core Test before you start your program of study.
The Praxis Core is a basic skills test in reading, writing and math.
The Nebraska Department of Education requires you to take the exam in order to be admitted into teacher preparation programs.
Getting a qualifying score shows that you have the necessary skills to start your teacher certification program.

Nebraska Teaching Certificate – Basic Requirements
In order to get a Nebraska teaching certificate, you will need a bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited school.
There are no course hour requirements, but you have to take part in student teaching, observations, and internships.
As stated below, Nebraska requires human relations training as part of teacher preparation.
Special education training is also required for all teachers, and this requirement may be fulfilled either by coursework or work experience.

So you need to bear in mind that other requirements may also have to be met.
Nebraska Teaching Certificate – Administrative and Other
There are separate requirements for substitute and administrative certificates.
Note that Human Relations Training is also required for substitute teachers.
In Nebraska, elementary teachers are required to pass the Praxis Test for the No Child Left Behind (NLCB) teacher designation.
