Mississippi Teacher Licensure – Praxis Core

If you want to apply for Mississippi teacher licensure, you will have to take the Praxis Exams.

Prior to entering a teacher education program at your college or university, you may be required to take the Praxis Core Test.


The Praxis Core will assess your basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.

If you are applying through an alternative route, you are also required to take the Praxis core test.

Mississippi Teacher Licensure – PLT

Teacher education program graduates for all subject areas have to take and pass the Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) test.

The PLT test will be taken for the grade level that most closely corresponds to the one you are going to teach.

The PLT test is not necessary if you are applying through an alternate route.
