Why Do I Have to Take the Praxis Tests?

If you are planning on a career as an educator, you may need to take the Praxis Core Tests two times in your teaching career.

Some colleges and universities require Praxis Test Scores for admission into their programs.

So, you might need to take the Praxis Exam before you apply for college.

In addition, some states require Praxis Test scores before they will grant you a teaching license.

You may therefore need to take the exams again when you apply for certification with your state board of education.

The scores from these exams are required because the tests assess skills that are required of teachers.

For instance, you will need to understand math in order to calculate grades for students.

You will need to read well in order to instruct your students and in order to understand reports from the Department of Education in your state.

You will also need to know how to express your thought in writing in order to write comments on student progress.
