Reading for the Exam
The LNAT exam has a multiple choice reading test that includes reading various passages.
This is called Part A of the exam.
After you read the passage, you have to answer multiple choice questions based on what is stated or implied in each passage.
Improve Your Reading Skills
If you are preparing for the LNAT, UK newspapers are a good resource.
You can improve your reading skills and vocabulary in general by reading UK newspapers.
The Times is of course one of the best national UK newspapers.
The Guardian and The Telegraph are also well-respected publications.
Daily articles in these newspapers are available online for free.
What is Critical Reading?
Reading at an academic level generally is good preparation for the exam.
But you will also need critical reading skills for your exam.
The practice of reading critically means that you question, analyse and evaluate what you read as you are reading it.
You may also wish to begin to notice the difference between fact and comment in what you read. In practice, this distinction is often not clear.
You will need to be able to differentiate fact and opinion in reading passages on the exam.
Reading opinion and comment columns or editorials in a high-quality national newspaper can help you with your reading skills for the test.
