All applicants for West Virginia teacher certification are required to take the Praxis examinations.

West Virginia Teacher Certification – Other Requirements

In addition to the above testing requirements, you must complete the following in order to get your initial educator licensure in the state of West Virginia:

be a United States citizen
hold a bachelor’s degree
have earned a mimimum 2.5 grade point average
have completed a teacher preparation program
be at least 18 years old
be of good moral standing
be physically and mentally fit for work
successfully undergo background checks by the Wesy Virginia State Police and the FBI
